The Brief

A Bit of This, A Bit Of That

This page is home to a variety of projects that I either didn’t feel were big enough to warrant their own page, or have not been made into their own page as of yet.

DuPont / Krieghoff

An email for DuPont Krieghoff (A retailer of high-end shotguns and accessories) showcasing their end of year wood sale. The forest at the bottom symbolizes the wood itself, where as the birds are representative of hunting with shotguns.

The associated website banner calling attention to their sale.

MILE HIGH SHOOTING

Magazine advertisement promoting the wide range of gear and products Mile High Shooting sells for Law Enforcement Snipers. The challenge with this ad was making sure we fit the 10+ brands and products our client wanted to showcase, without overpowering the Mile High branding or crowding the advertisement. Lifestyle photography breakdown seemed to be the best way to meet that goal.

A flier for a training course, highlighting what you learn, what guns you can learn with, as well as showcasing the Mile High and Accuracy International brand. This flier needed to be printable on a standard printer with 8.5” x 11” paper for Law Enforcement offices to be able to print it out and post it on bulletin board. As well as retain the ability to be handed out or mailed. The restrictions limited my ability to use full bleed imagery, and I stuck with a more reduced color pallet so it would still function well in gray-scale printing.

Mile High Training Detachment

Final four logo roughs

Final logo chosen by client, to be used with or without the text. The crossed arrows represent the special forces, who make up a large percentage of the trainers the company uses, and the cross-hairs represent the precision shooting nature of the training. Overall the logo goes with a more tribal illustration style to harken back to that small close-knit warrior community feeling.

ATACS

In building the ATACs website, one of the specific goals I set was making a contact form that had in-line validation and clear error messages for UI/UX purposes, as well as full keyboard functionality. The code can be viewed here.

OPEL PAY

Sketches for the Opel Pay logo / brand. A brick and mortar-focused payment app with a focus on small local towns and helping mom and pop shops get more data, and learn about their best customers, similar to the data capabilities big e-commerce software offers.

Rough Logo Design worked on with Laurie Simpson. The idea was to create an old-school neon sign like you would see outside the local theater, but transition it into a more modern feel and look. Pictured with two possible app icons.

Another rough logo design. The coloration came from an opal gemstone, to play off the name. The arrows represent the electronic transactions between either the customer and the business, or between the business and the application. “OPEL” is heavier to represent that the town (Opel is short for Opelika, AL) comes first, and that the payment comes second. Pictured with two possible app icons.
